For the sixth year, General Motors Mexico delivered the 2017 Supplier Quality Excellence Award to recognize members of its supply chain for meeting rigorous production performance standards.

The president of GM Mexico, Ernesto Hernandez, said that this year 127 companies obtained the badge, 20% more than last year. The plants that were awarded operate mostly in the states of Queretaro, San Luis Potosi, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato and Coahuila.

GM Mexico has more than 500 suppliers established in Mexico, specialized in the production of electrical components, harnesses, metal stamping and interior parts. These plants not only provide the automaker in Mexico, but also serve assembly facilities located abroad.

On this occasion, a special recognition was given to Lear Corporation Mexico, for starting operations in three manufacturing sites for General Motors under the Built-in-Quality standards and for certifying its personnel as Green Belt in failure mode analysis.

Four other suppliers that obtained level 5 of Built-in-Quality, the highest category of this certification, were: Kautex Textron, Guanajuato plant; Hutchings Automotive Products, Costa Rica plant; EXO-S Industries, Queretaro plant and Freudenberg NOK Sealing Technologies, Queretaro plant.
