Currently, discussions continue between the airline Emirates and the airport authorities of Mexico for the launch of a route connecting Dubai with Mexico City, with a previous stop in Barcelona, confirmed the airline in an interview.

"Once the airport authorities in Mexico confirm and approve our daily operations, we intend to start the service," added Emirates.

The Emirate airline has said several times that to make profitable its direct route to Mexico (the only country with more than 100 million inhabitants in which it does not operate) it needs seven slots to operate a daily flight.

Besides, it needs permissions (which it already has) from the Ministry of Development of Spain and the DGAC of Mexico, to land at the Airport Josep Tarradellas 'El Prat' in Barcelona.
