ENSENADA As part of the expansion of its multipurpose port terminal in Ensenada, the company Hutchison Ports displaced two Super Post Panamax gantry cranes and two more RTG type cranes from Terminal Especializada de Contenedores (TEC I) of the port of Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, to the Ensenada terminal in Baja California.

The objective is to provide greater operational capacity to Hutchison Ports EIT, the Ensenada terminal, as well as "to increase and strengthen the dynamism, efficiency and speed in the dispatch of goods with the most competitive times of themarket, providing greater productivity to the attention of ships.”

According to a statement from Administración Portuaria Integral (API) Lázaro Cárdenas, the works of the first stage of expansion of the EIT dock are planned so that, in a period of two years, an additional 150 meters of dock are built, which anticipates an increase in cargo moved by the port. Similarly, this will have a better transshipment connection between the two ports, as well as greater capacity for storage and transfer of merchandise, the API said.

"It is worth noting that the port equipment that Hutchison Ports LCT has (Lázaro Cárdenas terminal) is state-of-the-art, which allows it to position itself as the most agile terminal in the entire Mexican port system, achieving productivity that positions it as the second most important terminal in the Americas, "the API explained in the statement.

He added that Lázaro Cárdenas "will continue to develop and offer competitive advantages and quality services at its container terminals, thanks to the market's preference for this port area, which continues to grow, positioning Lázaro Cárdenas as the platform ideal logistics for global commerce, "he concluded.
