MEXICO The production and export volume of cars made in Mexico will grow 3.5% in 2019 compared to last year, said Eduardo Solis, president of the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA).

The industrial representative stated that said forecast is a moderate one and that it could change through the rest of the year as long as more companies join to produce cars in Mexico.

"In April, BMW reported its first production in San Luis Potosí, so the increase could be higher but we will announce it as we see the situation in the domestic and foreign markets," he said.

He stressed that in the first four months of this year, exports of cars to the United States grew 13.1%, while sales in tet market of light vehicles decreased 2.2%in that same period
"It is important to see that despite lower market sales, we are gaining more presence," said Solis.
