MEXICO – The federal program of free zone, the development of infrastructure, plus a deep political coordination between state and municipal governments, are the main factors that caused the country's northern border to became the most dynamic region in industrial activities at the beginning of the year, agreed specialists.

According to data from Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi), the industrial activity of the northern border registered an annual growth of 4.8% in January 2019, the highest level in Mexico.

The director of Instituto para el Desarrollo Industrial y el Crecimiento Económico (Idic), José Luis de la Cruz Gallegos, explained that an element that has boosted the northern states has been a bet on the construction industry, as state authorities and business men have seen that for investments to arrive, it is necessary to have facilities and real estate developments, as well as roads.

"What we can see is that the northern border has had a positive dynamic in recent years, northern entities have chosen to invest in public works and attract investment for private construction. This responds to the need to attract U.S. market. We want to be communicated," stressed de la Cruz Gallegos.
