MEXICO — In order to keep its sales leadership in Mexico, Nissan Mexicana will renew 60% of its product portfolio in the next two years, which will include model changes, innovations and launches of vehicles with more demand in the domestic market, said Roberto Lerma, deputy director of Marketing of the Japanese brand

“Nissan has a 20.6% share of total vehicle sales in Mexico, positioning itself as the market leader, and we intend to increase the presence of the brand, so we have worked closely with Nissan Mexicana and with Japan to look for customer service strategies, with portfolio and accessibility of credit," said the executive.

The automotive industry is in the midst of a recessive phase of sales in the domestic market, adding a fall of 6.4% during the first half of this year, where Nissan accumulates a decrease of 14.7%, after the departure of Tsuru and Tiida models from the market.

"The dynamism of the automotive industry fluctuates and what is a fact is our 10 year leadership in the Mexican market; our product renewal definitely will help us to continue leading the industry," Lerma said.

Nissan has a high range of products; going from sedans to trucks, so said renewal will be a comprehensive strategy, which began with sedans, by the announcement a month and a half ago of the Nissan Altima and Máxima models.
