Japan-based advanced materials manufacturer Elastomix inaugurates plant in Guanajuato

Elastomix Co. Ltd., a Japanese manufacturer of advanced materials, inaugurated a new manufacturing plant at the Castro del Rio industrial park in Irapuato, Guanajuato, dedicated to the production of carbon masterbatch.

The company, a subsidiary of JSR Corporation, invested US$ 17 million and opened 70 job positions in order to start operations with a production capacity of 7,000 tons per year.

Elastomix customer base includes Kinugawa Mexico, Kurashiki Kako Mexicana, Molten Automotive of Mexico, Nishikawa Gomu and Toyoda Gosei, among others.

Carbon masterbatch is a compounded rubber made by mixing and dispersing carbon, stiffeners and additives into raw rubber. It is an intermediate product that has the undergone primary processing required for the manufacture of rubber molded products.

Said material is characterized by being very light, moldable, thermal and easy to paint; these properties are ideal for manufacturers of auto parts such as fascias and inner fenders, among others.
