Bus manufacturer Marcopolo announced in recent days it has signed a contract with Grupo IAMSA to provide 1,085 bodies, which will result in revenues of more than US$ 149 million.

It is the largest contract since the Brazilian company established operations in Mexico, said Marcopolo in a statement. The bodies will be assembled at the Polomex plant, located in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Deliveries will be made over five years and will start from the last quarter.

More than half of the bodies will be assembled on chassis to be provided by MAN Truck & Bus of Mexico, which will be manufactured at the El Marques, Queretaro plant.

For this purpose, Grupo IAMSA previously signed a US$ 60 million deal with the German company for the delivery of 610 chassis. This contract also represents for MAN Truck & Bus its biggest sale in 14 years of operations in Mexico.

So far IAMSA has not disclosed the company that will provide the remaining chassis.
