Japanese automaker Mazda Motor Corporation released a 15-second video showing a glimpse of what is likely the next-generation Mazda3. The ad says that the vehicle will make its debut next month, which backups previous reports that the unveiling will take place at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The vehicle clearly resembles the Kai Concept revealed at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. A brief shot of the vehicle’s side shows that the door handles match those in the images revealed by AutoExpress back in June of what it claims to be the production model.

It is worth noting that the video shows two vehicles in different colors, red and gray, which suggests that both the sedan version and the hatchback will be unveiled.

Previous reports also state that the Mazda3 will be the first vehicle to use the new SkyActiv Architecture, as well as the revolutionary SkyActiv-X engine, which features a technology called Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (SCCI) that allows the engine to run on a leaner air-fuel mixture without the need of spark plugs, just like a diesel engine.

The current version of the Mazda3 is manufactured in Mexico, Japan and Thailand, but it is unknown where production of the next generation will take place, although it is to be expected that the Japanese plant gets the honor of producing the first units.

Also worth noting is that Mazda builds engines in Salamanca, Guanajuato, where its premises are located, hence production of the SkyActiv-X engine could take place in there in case the company decides to bring production of the next-gen Mazda3 to Mexico.
