Japan-based manufacturer of steering columns and transmission shifters Fuji Kiko Company, inaugurated its new production facility in the community of Jesus Gomez Portugal, just outside of the city of Aguascalientes in central Mexico.

The company invested US$ 4.5 million in the plant, which is dedicated to the production of transmission shifters and drive plates. Fuji Kiko did not provide any data regarding the number of jobs that were created with the new facility.

The Aguascalientes plant is Fuji Kiko’s first facility in Mexico and third in North America. The company operates two more plants in Michigan and Kentucky, respectively. Another production site is located in Brazil.

The inauguration was attended by the company’s Global President Noriya Murase. “Fuji Kiko Mexico is an important production base in North America and we intend to continue contributing to the development of the economy of Mexico, the United States and the automotive industry of the two countries,” he said at the opening ceremony, according to a statement by the local Government.
