Industrial activity in Tamaulipas grows by 4.3% in September

TAMAULIPAS – Industrial activity in Tamaulipas reported a 4.3% growth in September 2023, which allowed the state to return to the first places of this activity in the country.

According to INEGI’s Monthly Indicator of Productive Activity by Federal Entity, Tamaulipas ranked fifth among the states that reported the most outstanding monthly growth in industrial activity, along with San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato, Oaxaca and Colima.

The Secretary of Economy of Tamaulipas, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, announced that as of June 2023, the index of industrial activity in the state shows a growth trend.

“In mining activities, the state ranked first in the country, while in the generation, transmission, distribution and commercialization of electric power, water supply and natural gas through pipelines, the state ranked fourth in the country,” she said.

Cantú Deándar said that even though the manufacturing industry is recovering from its fall in the second quarter of the year, the overall growth of the entire industrial sector reflects that the state economy remains dynamic and growing, thanks to the new investments that are coming in and the expansions of already established companies.

In Tamaulipas, industrial activity is a fundamental part of the state’s economy. Manufacturing industries account for 27.4% of the state’s GDP, while construction contributes 7.5%, electricity, gas and water 2.3% and mining 2.2%.
