Jaime Ávila Reza assumes the presidency of Index Juarez

JUAREZ, CHIH - In a ceremony held at the Cibeles Convention Center, the Inauguration of the Board of Index Juarez for the 2025-2026 period took place, an event that brought together representatives of the three levels of government and prominent business leaders of the region.

The event was led by the governor of the state of Chihuahua, María Eugenia Campos Galván, who swore in the new president of Index Juárez, Jaime Ávila Reza, accompanied by the vice-president Mario Hernández and local board members Josué Román López (Border Trade), Ricardo Muñoz Pérez (Toro), Fabiola Luna Ávila (Autokabel), Daniel Alberto Álvarez (Javo Industrial), Julio Chávez (Harman), Marina Solano (Commscope) and Esther Stevenson (Vitesco). María Teresa Delgado Zárate and Pedro Chavira Gutiérrez also took office as national board members.

The ceremony was attended by the national president of Index, Humberto Martínez Cantú; the mayor of Ciudad Juárez, Cruz Pérez Cuéllar; the secretary of Innovation and Economic Development of Chihuahua, Ulises Fernández Gamboa; the U.S. consul in Mexico, Rafael Foley; and the consul general of Mexico in El Paso, Texas, Mauricio Ibarra Ponce de León.

During his speech, Jaime Avila Reza thanked the government representatives, businessmen and his family, reaffirming his commitment to the economic development of Ciudad Juarez and the strengthening of the maquiladora industry.

“The maquiladora has been and will continue to be an engine for the economy of Ciudad Juarez. Our work will be to promote, together with the government, policies that foster competitiveness, offer strategic incentives and continuously improve our infrastructure and human talent,” Avila emphasized.

Index's national president, Humberto Martínez Cantú, highlighted the importance of collaboration between the industrial sector and the government to strengthen Mexico's position in global trade. “It is key for us the participation of state and municipal governments, as well as the understanding with the federal government and its legislators,” he said.

For their part, Governor Maru Campos and Municipal President Cruz Pérez Cuéllar reaffirmed their support for Jaime Ávila's administration, pledging to work together to promote Juárez as an industrial benchmark and strengthen its labor force. The state governor emphasized that the financial stability achieved by Chihuahua provides certainty to the business sector and reiterated that her administration is focused on maintaining an environment conducive to economic development.

Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar emphasized the relevance of the maquiladora industry in the region's economy and pledged to continue collaborating with the business sector to overcome challenges and take advantage of new growth opportunities. “There will always be great challenges, but behind them there are also great opportunities. Ciudad Juárez stands out for its resilience and capacity for innovation,” he said.
