Jalisco Attracts US$406.5 Million in FDI

The state has seen a 25% increase in new investment during the first half of 2026, in contrast to the national trend, where Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has declined by 13.4% compared to the same period in 2025.

According to data from the Ministry of Economy, the state attracted US$1.4 billion in FDI during the first half of this year, an increase from the US$1.2 billion it received throughout all of 2025.

Of the total recorded in the first half of the year, US$256 million corresponds to new investments, one of the three components that make up FDI and reflect the inflow of fresh capital for the development of projects by foreign companies.

With this result, Jalisco ranks as the fourth-largest state nationwide in attracting the majority of new investments and, for the second consecutive quarter, remains among the top five states in terms of capital attraction.

Jalisco received US$1.2 million in profit reinvestment during the first half of 2026, a 52% increase from the US$673 million reported during the same period last year.

The third component of FDI—intercompany transactions—also showed growth. In fact, during the first six months of the year, this component totaled US$125.7 million, representing a 127% year-over-year increase.

Likewise, other sectors reported increases in foreign capital inflows, such as professional, scientific, and technical services; wholesale trade; temporary lodging and food and beverage preparation services; as well as agriculture.

This performance reflects the distribution of foreign investment across the state’s various economic activities, while new investments and the reinvestment of profits contribute to the state’s FDI performance.
