Jalisco’s Tech Hub Act Program Is Being Renewed

The Tech Hub Act, a public policy initiative created to boost the capabilities of Jalisco’s technology ecosystem, was renewed during the 30th International High Technology Congress (CIAT), organized by the Western Regional Chapter of the National Chamber of the Electronics, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Industry (CANIETI).

Marco Estrella, president of CANIETI Occidente, and Mauro Garza, the state’s general coordinator for Strategic Growth and Economic Development, signed the commitment to the “Jalisco State Public Policy on Innovation and High Technology,” as well as the renewal of the Jalisco Tech Hub Act, with the aim of strengthening collaboration between industry and the state government to boost the ecosystem’s competitiveness and establish the state as a national and international leader in high technology.

"What we are signing today goes far beyond a simple agreement. As part of this 2.0 version—which we’re calling the Council for Innovation and High Technology, chaired by Governor Pablo Lemus—CANIETI will be taking on the role of Technical Secretariat; this is one of the fundamental changes, and the goal is for the industry itself to drive public policy, regardless of which government official is in charge,” said Estrella Gómez.

“Let the industry be the driving force that makes things happen. And then, we will be able to promote recommendations to attract valuable investment, develop highly specialized talent, strengthen knowledge transfer, accelerate the adoption of new technologies, and consolidate strategic sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, information technology, advanced manufacturing, and the services related to them,” the business leader emphasized.

The Economic Coordinator, Mauro Garza Marin, has emphasized that the goal of the Jalisco Tech Hub Act is to elevate it to the level of industrial policy. The coordinator stated that this is in an effort to nurture the ecosystem and generate value for the state.
