Kia Mexico and UANL seek educational alliance

NUEVO LEON - Kia Mexico and the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon (UANL) seek to generate a framework of cooperation, which seeks to strengthen dual training through education programs, internships and scheduled visits. The objective is to prepare future professionals to successfully integrate into the automotive industry.

UANL, the educational institution with the largest student population in the state of Nuevo León, offers a wide range of degree programs, bachelor's degrees, specialties and postgraduate certifications. These programs are designed to equip students with the skills necessary to meet the challenges of intelligent manufacturing.

Kia Mexico's manufacturing plant in Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon is an example of advanced technology, utilizing the latest tools as well as state-of-the-art robots and processes. These resources will be available to students in related careers and courses, providing them with hands-on, practical experience in a state-of-the-art industrial environment.

“We want to share with the new generations the experience of the processes and techniques that make Kia a reference in manufacturing and continue to improve hand in hand with new talent in different specialties,” said Young Sam Kim, president of Kia Mexico.

Santos Guzmán López, rector of the UANL, indicated that the next step will be to jointly define with Kia the activities, goals and specific mechanisms to formalize this collaboration agreement.

UANL is already implementing academic programs that integrate theoretical and practical learning in the automotive sector. An outstanding example is the Dual Technical Baccalaureate in Mechatronics offered by the Escuela Industrial y Preparatoria Técnica “Álvaro Obregón”, which will begin in the August-December 2024 semester.
