La Costeña plans to expand two production facilities in 2018
Conservas La Costeña, Mexico’s leading canned food products company, plans to expand its production facilities in San Luis Potosi and the State of Mexico in order to increase its production capacity by 30% during 2018.
“Those are big expansions, because the current production is already falling short to meet demand,” said CEO Rafael Celorio during a press conference last week, where no investment figures were disclosed.
La Costeña’s current production capacity is at 3 million cans daily to distribute in Mexico, which accounts for 85% of its sales, and 50 more countries.
“2017 is a year we must celebrate, we reinforce our presence in the chili category, where we have more than 60% of the market, and we also had very good results in mayonnaise, vegetables and fruits in syrup with double digits growth,” said Ana Belen Diez, marketing manager.
In general, the company expects to close 2017 with a consolidated growth of around 12%, and for the next year a similar increase is expected, mainly due to the expansions in production that will take place.
