Manzanillo’s Port: investment destination for the automotive industry

MANZANILLO— During the opening of the National Meeting of the Automotive Sector Cluster, the minister of Economic Development in Colima (Sefome), Walter Oldenbourg Ochoa, promoted the port of Manzanillo as an investment destination for the automotive industry.

Oldenbourd Ochoa exposed the competitive advantages the port has for the strengthening of the automotive sector, such as its infrastructure, areas of national and international influence and strategic projects, among others.

During the meeting, held in Manzanillo, the head of Sefome stressed that in relation to  vehicles’ imports, this port registered a growth rate of 21.4% from 2016 to 2018; with figures that went from 15,754 to 23,228 imported cars, respectively.

He stressed that in addition to positive indexes and their competitive advantages, Manzanillo meets the conditions in order to go from being a logistics transit point to a light manufacturing production and distribution center for the automotive sector.

Said meeting was attended by the executive president of the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA), Eduardo Jorge Solís Sánchez; the manager of Integral Port Administration Planning (API) Manzanillo, Juan Carlos Córdova Estrada; State officials, as well as presidents and representatives of automotive clusters across the country
