2017 Growth expectations for the maquiladora industry in Baja California have been surpassed in the first semester of the year, with 1.7% more than the prospect, achieving growth rates of 5.2%, informed the Association of the Maquiladora and Export Industry (INDEX) Tijuana. Luis Manuel Hernandez, President of INDEX, mentioned that further growth is expected for the second semester, as companies are now making important decisions to secure their position facing the changes in the border, after the uncertainty in the NAFTA negotiations.
