Mazda celebrates 10 years in Guanajuato

GUANAJUATO - The arrival of Mazda 10 years ago accelerated the economic growth of Guanajuato and meant the consolidation of the most dynamic automotive cluster in Latin America.

The state of Guanajuato, driven by this leading plant in terms of productivity, quality and competitiveness, is currently the largest producer of vehicles in Mexico.

"Today is a day of celebration, we are celebrating with all of you 10 years of Mazda in Guanajuato. A history of greatness that we have written together," said the governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo.

The Mazda plant, located in the municipality of Salamanca, began production of the Mazda 2 model, in addition to engines. In September 2019, production of the Mazda CX-30 3 SUV began.

In January 2020 the plant reached a cumulative production of 1 million units after 6 years.

Mazda in Salamanca currently produces: the Mazda 2 Sedan, Mazda 2 Hatchback, Mazda 3 Sedan, Mazda CX-30 and the Mazda CX-3, which began production in October 2022.

"Today Guanajuato remains the best investment destination in Mexico. And Japan is our main investment partner. From 2006 to date, 133 Japanese companies have arrived in our state with an investment of more than US$7 billion, generating more than 46,000 jobs," said the state governor.
