McDermott to invest US$50 million in Tamaulipas

ALTAMIRA, TAMPS - The oil platform construction company McDermott announced the reactivation of its activities in Altamira, Tamaulipas, with a project that represents an investment of US$50 million and the creation of 900 direct jobs.

The Undersecretary of Investment of Tamaulipas, Anabell Flores highlighted the confidence that exists in the state to favor the development of investment projects that generate opportunities and bring well-being to the regions.

“This project is a clear reflection of the opportunities that Tamaulipas offers and the favorable business environment thanks to the teamwork of the three levels of government and the industrial sector,” said Flores.

McDermott is a company incorporated in Mexico in the metal-mechanic sector in the construction of oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and Latin America.

The company's project consists of the construction of a production platform called Manatee for Shell in Trinidad and Tobago, which will be of the NUI type with an approximate weight of 4,600 tons.

The ceremony for the start-up of the Manatee Project was also attended by Armando Martinez, Altamira's municipal president; Jorge Chapa, McDermott's general manager, company executives, as well as representatives of Altamira's port authorities.
