MercadoLibre inaugurates distribution center in Hidalgo

TENZONTEPEC, HGO - Mercado Libre inaugurated its MXCD10 Storage and Distribution Center in the PLATAH Industrial Park in Villa de Tezontepec, Hidalgo, projecting the generation of 7,000 direct jobs over the next three years and an investment of US$300 million.

David Geisen, general manager and senior vice president of Mercado Libre Mexico, highlighted that this warehouse, with 100,000 square meters of floor space, is the first of three centers planned in this industrial park, 20 minutes from Pachuca.

The facility is capable of handling 400,000 shipments per day thanks to the use of artificial intelligence. In line with its commitment to sustainability, the center will also have a waste plant to optimize environmental management.

This initial phase involved an investment of US$99.1 million and the creation of 2,000 direct jobs. Geisen indicated that the project will continue to expand in the coming years with the opening of two additional warehouses, strengthening Mercado Libre's operational capacity in the region.

The director emphasized that more than one million small businesses in Mexico use Mercado Libre's distribution centers to market products online, which allows 400,000 families to generate income through the platform. He also mentioned that more than one million businesses have received credit from the company to boost their growth.

Carlos Henkel, Hidalgo's Secretary of Economy, emphasized that the strategic location of the PLATAH Park, close to the Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) and the main routes in the Valley of Mexico, will facilitate logistics and strengthen the transportation chain, benefiting distribution in the country.
