MEXDC pushes for sustainable energy by digital expansion

As part of the 2026 National Energy and Sustainability Forum in Queretaro, leaders from the public and private sectors gathered to discuss technological and industrial development in the country.

The forum addressed the main challenges and opportunities arising from the increase in energy demand driven by the expansion of the digital economy, and was attended by the Queretaro Ministry of Sustainable Development, the Mexican Data Center Association (MEXDC), the Queretaro Energy Cluster, and the Tecnologico de Monterrey.

The MEXDC highlighted the critical role of digital infrastructure in the country’s economic development, while emphasizing the urgent need to strengthen Mexico’s energy capabilities to sustain this growth.

The forum consisted of four high-level panels that addressed energy resilience, innovation in data centers, industrial decarbonization, and the strengthening of the local ecosystem.

The energy transition was also a central theme of the panel, where leading companies shared progress on electrification, energy efficiency, and the adoption of clean energy.

MEXDC called for strengthening public policies that promote investment in energy infrastructure, as well as fostering public-private partnership models that enable an efficient response to growing demand.
