Mexican aerospace sector benefits from its proximity to the U.S.

MEXICO - Mexico's proximity to the United States, where some of the world's largest aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are located, as well as local capabilities to manufacture various components, are strong drivers for the growth of the sector in the country, revealed Zeiss.

The company, which is dedicated to optoelectronic optics, also pointed out that with the nearshoring boom, the demand for parts for the aerospace industry is expected to grow steadily in the coming years.

For Martin Quintero, regional sales manager for ZEISS Industrial Quality Solutions, this growth presents a valuable opportunity for manufacturers who can supply high-quality parts at competitive prices.

“This opportunity comes with notable quality-related challenges, such as meeting strict precision specifications, in addition to reduced lead times, which demand suppliers to quickly adapt to new market demands and be at the forefront in terms of technological innovation,” he said.

He also pointed out that with more than 80% of the companies in the sector in Mexico dedicated to the manufacture of aerospace products, the Mexican Republic is positioned as the 14th largest supplier worldwide.

He also indicated that the implementation of new technologies allows manufacturers to optimize their processes, reduce costs and improve competitiveness in the global market.

“The rise of nearshoring is driving an increasing demand for high-precision aerospace components,” the company added. The need for industrial metrology tools for more precise measurement.

In this regard, the company noted that aerospace component manufacturers are under constant pressure to manufacture high-precision parts, while reducing their costs and production times without compromising quality.
