Mexican economy grows 0.5% in May

Mexico’s economic activity expanded 0.5% in May compared to the previous month, driven by advances in its three main segments, the national statistics institute INEGI said on Monday.

Agricultural activities increased 2.7%, while services grew 0.6% and industry advanced 0.1% in the fifth month of 2018 compared to the previous month, he said in his monthly report.

The Government of Mexico forecasts that the economy will grow between 2.0 and 3.0% this year, in line with the forecasts of the Bank of Mexico (Banxico).
