Mexican industrial output dips 0.3% in April
Mexicos’s industrial production decreased 0.3% in real terms during last April compared to the previous month, based on seasonally adjusted figures, the national statistics agency (INEGI) revealed.
It was the biggest decline since August, but the overall reduction was offset by 0.6% growth in manufacturing activity for the month.
The construction sector fell 1.7%, the biggest declining of all, mining slipped 0.9% and the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, water and gas 0.3%, while manufacturing grew 0.6%.
In its annual comparison, mining fell 9.5%, the construction dropped 2.6% and the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, water and gas sank 1.2%; meanwhile manufacturing industries rose 5.1% compared to the fourth month of 2016.
