Mexico and Brazil Promote Cooperation in the Aerospace Industry
The Mexican Space Agency (AEM) hosted representatives from the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB) to discuss future technical cooperation, which includes the establishment of a joint project under the Technical Cooperation Among Developing Countries (TCDC) program.
The goal is to explore cooperative initiatives for the development of space technology that will support the AEM and the AEB in consolidating scientific and technological sovereignty in the region.
Similarly, there are plans to promote collaboration initiatives in space exploration linked to the multilateral commitments of both countries, such as the Artemis Accords.
Erika del Carmen Sevilla, General Coordinator of Scientific Research and Technological Development at the AEM, and Rodrigo Leonardi, Director of Portfolio Management at the AEB, discussed areas of cooperation and joint space exploration capabilities.
In addition, a comprehensive roadmap was developed for the development of in-house space technology, and plans were made to organize a virtual workshop focused on space exploration with representatives from the scientific, industrial, and technical communities of both countries.
Technical exchange visits to Mexico City and São Paulo are also planned, with the aim of sharing best practices between the two countries.
In addition, the goal is to lay the groundwork for the effective transfer of technical knowledge and the peaceful and sustainable use of outer space for the benefit of the academic and private sectors in both countries.
It is important to note that this strategic alliance was supported by the backing and diplomatic coordination of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) and the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, within the framework of the Basic Agreement on Technical Cooperation currently in force between the two countries.
Also in attendance at the meeting, representing the Brazilian Space Agency, was Edvaldo Días da Silva, head of the Office of Institutional Relations and Communications.
