Mexico ClimAcelerator presented in Chihuahua

CHIHUAHUA - In order to promote ventures that offer climate solutions, the Municipal Government of Chihuahua, together with Startup Chihuahua, New Ventures and the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development of the State Government, presented the Mexico ClimAccelerator call for proposals.

Through specialized mentoring, access to financing and a global network of contacts, the selected startups will receive the necessary boost to turn their projects into scalable realities.

The mayor of Chihuahua, Marco Bonilla, detailed the importance of innovation, and pointed out that the initiative is proof of sustainable development, which cares for the environment while boosting the circular economy.

Antonio Ríos, secretary of Startup Chihuahua, pointed out that, with these solutions, they will confront climate change, in order to promote a better sustainable future, to have a world with hope for future generations.

José Ricardo Sarmiento, Project Manager of New Ventures, added that currently there are problems with the environment, such as drought, so the goal is to strengthen startups, so that together they can work to mitigate greenhouse gases.

As part of the initiative, 30 first-hand companies will be selected, which will be provided with training, specialized mentoring and will close with a closing event to show results.

Jesús García, Undersecretary of Innovation and Economic Development, shared that there has been a joint work with the Municipal Government to combat climate change, such as decarbonization, for which he recognized these initiatives that call to put hands to work, and also shared various actions that can be performed to join this fight for the planet.

The ClimAccelerator initiative is created by BID Lab and Climate KIC, a European Union organization specialized in climate change innovation since 2010.

One of the main benefits of ClimAccelerator is the opportunity to improve skills and knowledge through an intensive bootcamp training in sustainable business practices, innovation and environmental impact measurement.

In addition, the program facilitates the creation of strategic alliances with government agencies, climate institutions, universities and private sector leaders, strengthening synergies and access to valuable resources.

Access to finance is another key pillar, establishing partnerships with financial institutions and investors, providing financial assistance for loans and equity financing, and connecting entrepreneurs with the right institutions.

A highlight of the program is the opportunity to participate in the Latin American Impact Investment Forum (FLII), where startups can present their projects to potential investors and collaborators.
