MEXICO — One of the priorities of the Mexican federal government is currently to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the aerospace and electromobility sectors.

Sergio Silva Castañeda, director of the Global Economic Intelligence Unit of the Ministry of Economy, said at a press conference that the government will be precise in the search for investments in other countries.

“Investments will focus on different industries such as the aerospace, electromobility and automotive sectors; these are currently vulnerable areas in Mexico, “said the executive.

Silva Castañeda also recalled that President López Obrador forecasted a 7%, increase in FDI by 2019, compared to 2018. Finally, the director added that although the industry is facing a complicated environment globally, there’s still a lot of interest in Mexico from other countries and investment opportunities from the Middle East, Asia and Europe may be coming to the country.
