Mexico’s video game industry had revenues of US$1.606 billion

The video game industry grows year after year in Latin America and we know that Mexico is one of the countries where this form of entertainment is most consumed. According to the latest report of The Competitive Intelligence Unit, the market had an acceptable growth in Mexico during the last year.

Data indicates that the industry generated in the country 8.4% more profits in 2017 compared to 2016. This shows the consolidation of video games as one of the most important entertainment industries locally and globally.

Mexico is positioned as the leading country within the industry in Latin America. Last year's total revenue was estimated at US$1.606 billion.

As has been the case for several years, Xbox is the brand with the largest presence in Mexico; this  console is one of the most popular systems, since 30.4% of players in Mexico have this device.

The list continues with Xbox One with 25.7%, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 with 10.5%. Another of the most popular consoles is Wii with 5.8%. It is estimated that Mexico had more than 70 million players in 2018, a number that surpasses the 62.9 million players in 2017.
