Mexico seeks agreement with the US ahead of USMCA review

At an upcoming meeting between U.S. Trade Representative Jaimeson Greer and President Claudia Sheinbaum, it will be made clear that Mexico’s interest in revising the USMCA is for Washington to address the issue of tariffs on steel, aluminum, and automobiles.

It was noted that the US official will be received at the National Palace as part of the efforts to revise the North American trade agreement.

Sheinbaum noted that the United States is interested in strengthening rules of origin to prevent products from other countries from entering the market.

Furthermore, if the entire negotiation is led by the Secretary of the Economy, the entire team would like to be involved in the USMCA review.
