Japanese investment in Mexico, particularly in the Bajio area, will keep up throughout 2016 and 2017 at the same rate as last year, when 143 Japanese companies arrived in the State. Tadashi Minemura, General Director of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Mexico, shared that 957 Japanese enterprises were operating in this country last November, but the expectation for this year is to have over 1,000 active companies. As for the amount of the investment, 90% will be related to the Automotive Industry. However, not all of them are auto part manufacturers, there are also logistics firms, as well as some maintenance and service companies associated to the Automotive Industry, mainly medium and small businesses, also including consultants and industrial developers. On the other hand, JETRO Mexico's General Director said that they are looking to support Japanese enterprises that are willing to invest in Mexico in the service sector, such as restaurants and stores.
