NASA highlights Mexico’s potential to achieve presence in the space field
MEXICO - After concluding the National Congress of Space Activities 2024 (CONACES), Andrés Martínez, executive director of NASA's Advanced Exploration Systems (AES) Small Satellite Program, assured that Mexico has everything to achieve a great presence in the space field.
Before the Mexican Space Agency (AEM), he stated that Mexico has the capacity, knowledge, and has had great performance in all its collaborations with NASA.
Salvador Landeros Ayala, Director General of AEM, recalled that Mexico has more than a decade of successful collaboration in projects with NASA, and welcomed the presence of Martinez, who is responsible for developing systems, satellites and new technology for space missions.
Martinez recalled the successful mission of AztechSat-1, the first Mexican nanosatellite on the International Space Station, a device that achieved an innovative inter-satellite link for the global need for nanosatellites to stop relying exclusively on their ground stations.
The achievement was highly recognized internationally and by NASA itself, of which Martinez also highlighted the visit of its head, Bill Nelson, to the Presidency and the Senate of our country last April, where he expressed interest in carrying out larger regional projects with Mexico.
In this regard, Carlos Duarte, general coordinator of Human Capital Formation of the AEM, highlighted that there is very good news following the announcement by the President of Mexico that the Mexican Space Program will be consolidated and a satellite of its own will be put into orbit.
