Nestlé will invest US$3 million in order to boost the consumption of Mexican cocoa

MEXICO CITY —The Nestlé company will invest about US$3 million to increase its consumption of Mexican cocoa, said Juan Carlos Peralejo-Serrano, vice president of Chocolates and Confites for the company. The manager explained that of the total cocoa production in the country which is estimated at 26,336 tons, the Swiss company is the largest buyer, with a consumption of 10% of said total. As part of its Cocoa Plan, which involves an investment of US$5 million, the company aims to increase that participation in order to buy up to 20% of the country's manufacturing in the next five years.
