New Tajin Plant in Jalisco

The Jalisco-based company, Industrias Tajin, has laid the cornerstone for its upcoming “Capsicum Sabores de México” complex in the municipality of Tala, a project aimed at increasing the processing of chili peppers as a raw material for export.

The new complex is expected to strengthen the operational capacity of the parent plant and consolidate the agro-industrial supply chain with producers across the Mexican countryside, noted the CEO and Executive President of Industrias Tajin.

With this project, the market leader in the chili powder industry has strengthened its production capacity to continue expanding its production capabilities, which continue to support its global export network, while maintaining high quality standards for its products.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, a large-scale sculpture of the brand’s traditional chili powder jar—crafted from LEGO plastic building blocks—was unveiled. The piece was created by Canadian artist Graeme Dymond.

“Tajín stopped being just a chili brand a long time ago; today we are an icon of popular culture and Mexican pride around the world. “The fact that a global institution of creativity like Dymond has reinterpreted our bottle not only celebrates our most iconic silhouette, but also the journey that has taken us from Tala, Jalisco, to the tables of millions of families in more than 70 countries,” Fernández Castillo noted.

The sculpture perfectly captures the typography, colors, and silhouette of the bottle that has carried the taste of Mexico throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia, Oceania, and Africa. This sculpture is now a permanent feature of the new plant in Tala, Jalisco, and is included in the official visitor tour as a symbol of the convergence of industrial innovation and international reach.
