Nidec to invest US$450 million in Mexico

MEXICO — Nidec, a Japanese motor supplier, will invest US$1.8 billion to produce electric car motors in Poland, China and Mexico, with the aim of increasing its production capacity by up to 10 million units.

It is expected that approximately US$450 million will be invested in Mexico where the plant will have a maximum capacity of 2.4 million units per year and will meet requests coming from European and American car manufacturers.

It is still unknown if the plant will be an expansion of the current Nidec Motors and Actuators Mexico facility located in Ciudad Juárez or if the company will start the construction of a new plant in a different location.
