Nissan: Manufacturing acoustic insulation sheets

Nissan Motors and Takayama Kasei announced the launch of “TS-12” and “TS-20,” acoustic insulation sheets for construction applications, manufactured using calcium carbonate recovered from Nissan's vehicle paint shops.

As part of this initiative, Nissan will supply the recovered calcium carbonate as a raw material, while the Takayama Group will handle the manufacturing and marketing of the products. This collaboration promotes the circular economy by transforming production waste into high-value construction materials, thereby helping to reduce waste.

Compared to conventional alternatives, these products can reduce CO2 emissions by more than 30%, providing both environmental and functional benefits.

This initiative is expected to enable Nissan to reduce waste by 1,200 metric tons per year, thereby lowering waste disposal costs by US$154,000; in the future, Nissan will explore new applications for the recovered calcium carbonate, including its potential use in automotive components starting in 2030.
