++mexico++ GMexico invests US$340,000 in solar systems for clean energy

Mexico.- Grupo Mexico announced the recent installation of photovoltaic cells that will supply clean energy to Minera Mexico’s Corporate Offices in Hermosillo Sonora.
The capacity of this system is 81.88 kWp; it has 365 solar panels mounted on 2-axis followers. These are the largest facilities of this type installed in Mexico, which avoids de release of 118 tons of CO? to the atmosphere.
The excellent solar irradiation conditions found in Mexico, together with lower costs of photovoltaic systems, have made this technology economically viable. Aware of this, Minera Mexico, a Socially Responsible Enterprise, committed to the environment and concerned about their operations’ sustainability, has identified photovoltaic energy as one of the most promising technologies in their strategy to diversify the sources of energy used in their operations.
The investment for this project was US$304,000. It has an Internet-based monitoring system to watch the facilities’ production and proper working in real time from any place in the world. The system will generate more than 210,000 kWh of clean energy every year, enough to supply more than 120 homes.
