The Mexican company Katcon plans to open at least three production plants during this and next year; two in China and one more in the United States, said Carlos Turner Gonzalez, president of Katcon Global.

"We want to continue growing in China, we have expansion plans to open two plants there in the next two years. Now we are preparing the opening of one and next year we will prepare another one," Turner explained to El Financiero during an interview at Hannover Messe.

Katcon is a family-owned company based in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon that designs and manufactures catalytic converters and diesel after-treatment devices, as well as exhaust modules and systems for diesel and gasoline. It also operates an advanced materials division to provide engineering and manufacturing solutions for high technology lightweight components, focused on carbon fiber and reinforced plastics for the automotive and aerospace industries.

It is worth noting that the Katcon plants in China would be the fifth and sixth respectively, as the company already operates in the cities of Shanghai, Chong Qing, Sheng Yan and Bao Ji.

Regarding the plant in the U.S., Turner said it will be the first operation of the advanced materials division in that country and it will supply components for Jaguar/Land Rover, Jeep and Ford. Katcon already owns a production site in Michigan that manufactures exhaust systems.
