Nuevo León Invests in AI Infrastructure

During a working visit to New York by Governor Samuel García, Nuevo León announced a US$600 million investment to develop industrial facilities in Apodaca and Pesquería, with projects focused primarily on data centers and artificial intelligence. The initiative highlights the type of industrial infrastructure envisioned for the state—featuring a greater number of facilities integrated with technology and data processing capabilities—alongside the manufacturing platform that has sustained the state's industrial growth.

With this investment, the state government reported that accumulated Foreign Direct Investment has reached US$136.6 billion, with expectations of hitting US$140 billion by the end of December. The new project encompasses industrial investments currently underway at various locations across the state, such as the Volvo plants in Ciénega de Flores, Bobcat, Unilever in Salinas Victoria, and the LEGO operation.

Additionally, during the tour of New York, the Nuevo León delegation held meetings with financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs, Macquarie Group, Apollo Global Management, JP Morgan, and SMBC to present the infrastructure portfolio the state is developing and to explore financing options.

The projects presented include new Metro lines, the Gloria-Colombia highway, the introduction of electric buses, and water infrastructure works.

This pursuit of financing is part of the state's strategy to develop the infrastructure capacity needed to support industrial growth and facilitate the arrival of higher value-added projects.
