Oerlikon invests in Querétaro

The Swiss company Oerlikon is strengthening its presence in Mexico with the opening of a new production facility in Querétaro, dedicated to the development of aerospace-grade honeycomb structures for turbines.

This project establishes the company as a strategic hub within the aeronautics industry, while also driving the creation of specialized jobs and the growth of the supply chain.

During the inauguration, the head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Development (SEDESU), Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, highlighted that Oerlikon’s expansion represents a significant step in the industrial relocation process, as it establishes the company as a supplier to firms that continue to attract production facilities to the state.

The state official emphasized that these types of investments add value to the aerospace supply chain, strengthening Querétaro’s competitiveness in a highly specialized sector.

“Innovation is built on investment and trust. We are inaugurating #Oerlikon’s honeycomb component manufacturing cell, an expansion that strengthens the aerospace sector in Querétaro, creates jobs, and commits to high-level technology with global reach,” the official stated on his social media accounts.

As part of the Oerlikon project, the creation of 50 highly specialized jobs is planned, which contributes to strengthening the state’s human capital.

Del Prete Tercero noted that Querétaro continues to offer favorable conditions for investment, providing legal and labor certainty, as well as a skilled workforce tailored to the industry’s needs. He also emphasized that the triple helix model has been a key factor in facilitating the opening of new market niches and the consolidation of companies in the sector.
