Packaging solutions supplier Edelmann Group to open its second plant in Mexico

Edelmann Group, a Germany-based manufacturer of board and paper packaging solutions announced the opening of a second production facility in the north of Mexico City, located approximately 55 km from the current plant.

The additional plant, with an overall area of 14,400 square meters, comes as a strategic move to increase the Edelmann Group capacity in Mexico to support the growing demand for its customers. Production is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The new plant will grow into the consumer brands and health care sectors in particular, which are two of the three Edelmann Group core markets, alongside beauty care. The latter will remain the main focus of the first production site.

“Our second site in Mexico City significantly enhances our local production capabilities, allowing us to better serve our customers and to offer them only the best facilities. At Edelmann Mexico, we are proud to strengthen our presence in the region and hope to not only make an impact for our customers, but also for the local economy,” said in a statement Alejandro Galvez, Managing Director of Edelmann Mexico.

It is projected that the production site will create between 80-100 new job positions within a year of opening.

“The Edelmann Group has a strong network of sites across the globe, and being where our customers are is an essential part of our strategy. With a growing demand in Mexico, this expansion allows us to further develop our presence in an important market. We are very happy with our engagement in Mexico and excited to grow our footprint in this strategic market,” said Oliver Bruns, Edelmann Group CEO.
