Pemex readies new gas station model to confront competition

Pemex announced it is renovating its gas station business, and it is going to launch its new franchise model next November, as part of its renewal process.

Mexican state-owned oil company said new contracts are now in the works aimed to offer a profitable margin with a different brand positioning in the face of the franchise holder.

Pemex is working to improve legal fuel operation, mainly to fight fuel theft or failure in the system to provide “liters that are a liter”.

This is the first step Pemex is taking to confront the new competition that gas brands of recent introduction, such as BP, Gulf, Shell, OXXO, represent, among others, are bringing into the market.
