POETA DigiSpark Center inaugurated in Queretaro

QUERETARO – The Technological University of Queretaro (UTEQ) and The Trust for the Americas inaugurated the POETA-UTEQ Center that will implement the POETA DigiSpark Project in the state, which is sponsored by Microsoft, in which vulnerable groups will be trained to develop digital skills.

At the launch of the project were present representatives of the Ministry of Labor of the state, who stand out as strategic allies of the University of Queretaro and POETA DigiSpark Center, through which have been able to benefit people who are looking for employment and training opportunities.

It is worth mentioning that since 2004 The Trust for the Americas has partnered with Microsoft to provide training in 8 Latin American countries, with the support of 20 local partners in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and Uruguay.

The focus of the project is to ensure that 80% of our participants are from marginalized and vulnerable groups, such as the unemployed and underemployed, people at risk of losing their jobs, people with disabilities, women, at-risk youth, migrants and refugees, and those of African or indigenous descent.

Mario Valdez Resendiz, UTEQ's Secretary for Outreach, explained that the educational institution joined forces with the Ministry of Labor, the State DIF System, the association 10,000 Women United for Mexico, the Center for Indigenous Artisan Development, the Canaco and other entities to benefit 500 teachers and 600 other people.
