MEXICO – The port sector is anticipating a public and private investment of US$5.2 billion for this sexennium, mainly speaking of the continuity of an expansion of the Port of Veracruz, Progreso, as well as the expansion of Laguna de Cuyutlán in Manzanillo, according to Héctor López, general coordinator of Ports and Merchant Marine.
In an interview, he indicated that for the expansion of the Port of Manzanillo in Laguna de Cuyutlán there are basic studies and environmental impact demonstration studies and said expansion will be carried out as a consequence of the container movement’s increase that has occurred in the Colima port.
The executive stressed as well that one of the objectives of this administration is to make the necessary changes to develop cabotage and marine roads, that’s why there have been held different meetings with the big users of land transport in order to make these services viable.
