Public policy is required to promote the production of SAF in Mexico
MEXICO - According to Javier Villazón Salem, general director of Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA), although Mexico has signed international commitments to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to zero in the aeronautical sector, the so-called sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is still not produced in the country, although everything is in place to produce it.
Therefore, a public policy is needed to promote technology transfer and research, as well as technological development for the production of SAF.
The executive explained that in Latin America, Brazil has a slight advantage, but Mexico can be the leader if things are done well in the production of SAF.
