Puebla attracts US$31.2 million in economic revenues

PUEBLA – Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the state Ministry of Tourism reported that in June alone there was a US$31.2 million economic revenue, compared to the US$9 million at the beginning of the year.

Martha Ornelas Guerrero, head of the local agency, pointed out that although the third wave of contagions could have a negative impact in the coming months, they cannot stop promoting the state to attract visitors.

She indicated that during the rest of the year they will continue to focus on the gastronomic, sports, nature, weddings and meetings sectors, as well as to promote the offer of 51 municipalities with a tourist vocation and the 10 Magical Towns.

Ornelas Guerrero emphasized that they are also promoting domestic tourism, therefore families from Puebla who can go out to the municipalities on weekends should be confident that the service providers are complying with all sanitary regulations.

She said that they are analyzing the possibility of attending some international tourism fairs in the near future; they are also holding talks with some international associations of travel agencies to make them aware of Puebla's offer, in order to attract foreigners, especially from Spain, where there are more vacationers.
