Puebla´s vanilla industry, highly demanded

Bertin Pintle Zepeda, President of the Vanilla National Product System Committee of Mexico, said France is the country that imports the most vanilla from Puebla, followed by Germany, Poland, the United States, Canada and Japan, none of which is a producer of this plant.

He commented that this plantation has also been a trigger for the economy of the localities that are in a situation of high marginalization, women being the ones in charge of production.

At a national level per year, about 100 tons are produced, of which only 10% remain in the country.
