Rear Admiral José Ramón Rivera Parga appointed new AICM director
MEXICO CITY - Rear Admiral José Ramón Rivera Parga, who replaces retired Vice Admiral Carlos Ignacio Velázquez Tiscareño, was sworn in as the fourth general director of the Mexico City International Airport (AICM).
Through a press release, the Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico (SEMAR) informed that Rivera Parga was sworn in as general director of the companies Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México S.A. de C.V. (AICM) and Servicios Aeroportuarios de la Ciudad de México S.A. de C.V. (SACM), by indication of the President of the Republic and designation of the High Command of the Navy of Mexico, the Secretary of the Navy, Admiral José Rafael Ojeda Durán.
Rear Admiral Rivera Parga is an Engineer in Aeronautical Sciences, graduated from the Heroica Escuela Naval Militar as an Aviator Pilot; Master in Naval Administration and Master in National Security, from the Centro de Estudios Superiores Navales.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in the presence of Admiral César Carlos Preciado Velázquez, SEMAR's Chief of Staff on behalf of the Admiral Secretary of the Navy.
The ceremony was attended by the General Director of Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México (GACM), Admiral Juan José Padilla Olmos, among other AICM officials.
Carlos Ignacio Velázquez Tiscareño has served as General Director of AICM since July 7, 2022. During his tenure as retired Vice Admiral, the airport faced problems such as the work to prevent the collapse of the Terminal 2 (T2) building, as well as the two decreases in operations at AICM and the departure of cargo operations to the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).
Velázquez Tiscareño replaced Carlos Morán Moguel, who was only at the helm of AICM for six months, while Morán Moguel replaced Jesús Rosano García as AICM's general director.
