Record for Mexico’s Exports to the U.S.

Mexico's exports to the United States have reached an all-time high of US$298.2 billion, with 13% growth that has cemented the country's position as the leading supplier of goods to the U.S. market.

According to figures from the U.S. Census Bureau, the value of shipments from Mexico has accounted for 17.1% of all imports into the country, allowing Mexico to gain an edge over its main trading competitors.

Meanwhile, Canada has taken second place with an 11.5% share, followed by Taiwan with 7.8%, while China has dropped to fourth place with 7.4%.

The trade relationship between the United States and Mexico is strong, reflecting the total trade volume between the two countries. The Undersecretary of Foreign Trade, Luis Rosendo Gutiérrez, emphasizes that Mexico has remained the United States’ main trading partner, with bilateral trade totaling US$493.7 billion—exceeding trade with Canada at US$376 billion and with China at US$184.8 billion.

Mexico continues to see growth in its exports, but the good news is that it is no longer the second-largest bilateral trade deficit in goods for the United States; it has moved down to third place, with Vietnam at $114 billion, Taiwan at $107.2 billion, and Mexico at $102.6 billion,” the official noted on social media.

Gabriela Siller, chief economist at Banco Base, has warned that strong export growth is concentrated in the computer equipment sector, which has a smaller economic impact than the automotive industry.
