Safran joins FEMIA

MEXICO - SAFRAN strengthens its commitment to Mexico through the participation of its propulsion, aeronautical equipment and space/defense divisions present in the country in the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (FEMIA). This initiative is aligned with the Mexican Federal Government's efforts to meet the goals and objectives established in Plan Mexico.
FEMIA is the aerospace industry association recognized by the Federal Government that unites all companies, domestic and foreign, in order to promote the development of the Mexican Aerospace Industry nationally and internationally.
“With this initiative, SAFRAN strengthens its commitment to Mexico. For the aerospace sector in our country and for the Mexican Federation of the Space Industry, the involvement of all the plants in Mexico of this important industrial group represents a great potential to continue with the development of this strategic industry. This is perfectly aligned with the framework of Plan Mexico,” said Luis Lizcano, Executive President of FEMIA.
Alejandro Cardona, President of Safran in Mexico, added added that for the first time since Safran arrived in Mexico, all its divisions will have active participation in FEMIA, and this milestone is an additional commitment by Safran to strengthen the development axes of the aerospace industry, such as the assembly of the complete engine and its satellite equipment in Mexico.
"At the same time, it will allow us to strengthen the aerospace development pole contained in the Mexico Plan to boost human development and contribute significantly to economic growth and innovation in the country through all FEMIA members,” Cardona said.
Through this collaboration, the participation of the private initiative is strengthened in coordination with the Federal Government to respond to the objectives of the integral development strategy.
Among the goals set for the aerospace sector are: to lead the first 100% Latin American mission to space; the integration of the complete engine made in Mexico; and to place the first 100% Mexican satellite, which is why SAFRAN's participation is key, mainly in the areas of space, supply and technological integration.
The Mexico Plan is a vision of the present and future of the Federal Government's national development, comprising 13 goals and a portfolio of domestic and foreign investments of US$277 billion.
Safran has been operating in Mexico for more than 34 years and currently has 18 facilities and more than 14,000 employees throughout the country. The Group has a presence in four regions of Mexico (Chihuahua, Querétaro, Baja California and Mexico City) and is the largest employer in Mexico's aerospace industry.
